Around Jennifer’s birthday we decided to go to San Francisco and Napa Valley. I’m going to write up the Napa Valley portion of the vacation in another blog post. This was a “grown up” vacation so Siler and Emerson had to stay home with grandparents.
This was a short vacation, but we jam packed as much as we could into a few days. We stayed downtown at the Parc 55 hotel and really liked the hotel and the location. It was either walking distance or a short car ride to everything we wanted to see. We used Uber or Lyft to get us everywhere we needed to go. It was the first time we’ve every gone somewhere and not had a car. I actually really liked using Uber/Lyft and would definitely do that instead of renting a car if we ever go back to San Francisco.
In just a few days we were able to visit the Pier, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point and Lombard Street. My two favorite attractions was Fort Point and Alcatraz. Visiting Lombard Street was a little disappointing. I’m not sure what I expected, but the road was just full of tourists like us taking pictures and driving down the curvy street. We went ahead and walked to the top just so we could say we did.
Overall we really enjoyed San Francisco. I don’t think I would want to live there, especially not downtown, just because of how crowded and fast paced it was. But I would definitely recommend going and visiting for a vacation.
